The College Life!

So currently I am sitting at my desk in my amazing dorm room (I know, you don't hear that very often!) and I am loving the college life! Last Friday I set of on an amazing backpacking adventure, and as a result I feel prepared and confident enough to begin my classes tomorrow!

Friday was an extremely hectic day. We set off from the sheraton and checked into the Davis Center. I then got my backpacking gear checked, and met my group leaders, and set off to drop of my supplies in my dorm. Mom helped me make my bed, and we went back to the student center to say goodbye. Amazingly, I refrained from crying...probably because everything happened so quickly that I had no time to think about it! I can't say the same for mom though, she couldn't stop crying...the car ride up, in the dorm room, at the student center. It was heartbreaking to say the least. Anyways, as soon as mom left, I met my group and we got driven up to the trail head. This first day of hiking was unexpectedly difficult, and set the tone for the rest of the adventure. We has some amazing views and great times with the group, but this was undoubtedly some of the hardest hiking I had experienced in my life. My group bonded well, and it is really great to know some faces around campus, but we aren't best friends like some of the other groups. Anyways, moving on...

The first night back in civilization was difficult. I was alone in my dorm, tired and homesick, missing all my friends. I heard people in the hall happily conversing while I sat unpacking I room. The night got worse when I realized that no dining halls were open at all, and I was left to order food randomly to satisfy my hunger. The rest of the night consisted of me sitting in my room eating a salad and cinni-stix from dominos, and basically just crying and unloading all my belongings. It was not one of my best nights. But now, I am glad to say, that I am having SUCH a great time! Meeting my room mate went so well, and we have had so many activities planned out for us that there is no time to think about anything else! As a floor, we have all gone to breakfast and dinner together, and we have participated in game shows and safety presentations. Last night, we did an activity as a building called "open doors and smores." Everyone in the GreenHouse building opened up their doors and everyone mingled and conversed in eachothers rooms. This was so great to meet people in our building, and I am so glad that we are all so friendly and chill! After the open doors we went out to the "green roof" of our building and had smores! We also played some games and had tons of fun! Afterwards I went to a dance party in a friend's room, and then came back to my dorm and had a great time just hangin out....had some of my first vermont double bag beer! Yumm. Also, just as a side note, my floor usually has the lingering scent of weed...gotta love UVM!! Haha anyways, classes start tomorrow, and I have successfully found the location of all of them, and I am actually really excited! Haha who would have thought! Okay well I am going to try to upload a video of my dorm room and show you guys how awesome it is...so I will leave all the college babble at that..

Nerves and Excitement

Okay, so there isn't a lot of time to update my blog, but I haven't for a while so I will. I am currently finishing up packing for college, which is pretty scary. I am excited, nervous, sad, happy. All at once. It is extremely tiring and I have to assure myself that everything will be fine. I got back fmor my relaxing few days in the vineyard and went into full college mode. I have already said some goodbyes, which were extremely sad, but I'll be coming home in November..so that's not too long. I guess I am just scared of change. Mom is freaking out, she's anxious and sad. Mason refuses to come with us up to Burlington because he thinks it's a waste of a day...haha gotta love the brother.

So I leave tomorrow, hopefully before 11am. I need to open a bank account and go over some things before I leave on my 6 day long backpacking trip! I am sooo excited for it! I am in some major need of some nature time. Okay this is really all I can write for now, I have so much more to do! I'll post more after TREK!

Finally!

So after a few weeks of extremely slow handy work such as painting and mudding and sanding, my room is finished! I will post some pictures in this entry. It is "spring meadow green" with "wild orchid purple" colored trim. It seems so plain without all my magazine pages all over the wall, but eventually it will start to look like my room again (messy, with random shit all over place..yeah.) So anyways, updates with my life...

I had a huge fight with mom about how I have no job and how I am lazy etc...I don't want to go into detail, because it was quite alarming. I was talking to L about this and she said that she read a statistic about college children and that a huge amount of fights in families break out before the child leaves for college, in this case it is easier for the parent to part with the child. Such a lame reason for a fight to break out....If anyone is going through this phase right now, good luck. haha. Anyways, I have been sorting through financial aid crap so I can go to college, and I do not understand anything besides "sign here" and "loan." It's all a bit stressful...

Today I went to the strangest flea market I have ever been to. It was at the drive-in theater in Mansfield, CT. Usually, I am a huge fan of flea markets. This was not the case today. There were probably close to 130 vendors first of all. Half of which were the crappiest, stupidest items I have ever seen in my life. Like vendors selling old McDonalds toys from happy meals. I saw the largest concentration of white trash, trailer living people I have ever seen before in my life. I felt extremely uncomfortable and grimey...but I came out with an almost famous poster for my dorm room! Win! hahah oy. We ended up at the Coventry Farmer's market, my favorite farmer's market of all time! We were greeted by a drum circle, I got an amazing bracelet to add to my collection on my arm..and I got really pretty giant sunflowers! Win again!

Anywaysss in the next few days M and I are going on a little adventure to J's house in the vineyard. We'll take the ferry over early hopefully, and then hang out down island for a little, and eventually trek up island via hitchhiking or island bus...mostly hitch hiking though..haha. This will be the perfect end to my randomly uneventful summer. It is my favorite thing in the world to veg out on the beach, retire to the house at about 5 oclock, and watch the sun set over the atlantic ocean. I absolutely can't wait!

Tomorrow I find out who my room mate is...SO NERVOUS. I'm partly excited, but more nervous that it will be someone totally weird, like a recovering klepto or something. Or even worse...a psycho. Oh that would be the worst situation in the world, but everything works out in a way. And everything happens for a reason. So if a psycho is indeed my room mate, it would be because I need to learn how to tolerate crazy people, or learn self defense...hahaha. Okay, I have run out of stuff to talk about, because I know the college ramble is boring....so I guess I will leave it at that!

Peace&Love.
